Is a teething biscuit anything like a piece of slightly stale Swedish crispbread out of one of those big, cheap round paper packages from IKEA? That's the way I've always imagined them. Also zweiback, which at some point in early life I thought was a sort of German zebra. I always pictured it having a conversation with Rex Harrison in a top hat. Either one. In the top hat, I mean. Naturally, the zebra would be wearing the monocle.
