Pictures from the weekend

We were all lolling about the bedroom on Sunday.
My sweet baby...

I am reading The Good Earth (Pearl S. Buck). I read it
way back in high school, but have forgotten most of it.
I have really enjoyed revisiting some literature that I
read earlier in life because it is interesting how differently
I perceive things now. For example, I remembered only
one scene from the Good Earth. This time around I am so
heartbroken and touched by his mourning when his family
is starving. Wang Lung witnesses his family growing thinner
and thinner and the description of his starving infant just
breaks my heart. I think there are just some things I
couldn't quite empathize with without more life experience.
I understood what I had previously read, but didn't feel it
in my gut as much.

I never could have predicted the powerful feelings of
love, protection, caring, and nurturing that my son has
awakened in me. With those feelings comes some anxiety
as well. You know, the "what if" thoughts that creep in
at the corners of my happy life.

Boy do I love my son...

I felt the same way about reading the LOTR when I was 13 compared to when I was 33. Lots of emotion that I did not understand as a teen that I understood more as an adult.

Yes I understand about the overwhelming love you feel for your child! :)

Cutie pie!
